Scheherazade is a new Audiobooks player for S60v3 from PlatySoft in Australia. It requires python to be installed, but the author has released two versions, one for those who already have python, and another which includes python. Once installed, all you need to do is to put your Audiobooks into a folder called Audiobooks and Scheherazade will automatically find them and play them for you. Even more, it’s free!

As well as the updates to Nokia Channels, and the Nokia Internet Tablet Video Converter we covered earlier this week, Nokia Beta Labs has also updated the Nokia Audiobooks software we first covered here.

The Nokia Audiobooks software update is mainly a bugfix, with new features and improvements due in future versions.

If you installed the Nokia Audiobooks software after we mentioned it last week, please go back and download the latest update to the PC application, which fixes a number of small issues.

Nokia have released, via their Nokia BetaLabs, 2 Audiobooks applications. Firstly, they have released a player for Series60 devices, using the AMR-WB format, which is a format that creates small files (in size) and is optimised for voice, and hence suitable for audiobooks. Nokia have also released a Windows application to convert your existing audiobooks (including mp3s) into this format.
