When we covered the launch of the Mobile Wi-Fi device (MiFi) from 3UK, we mentioned that there was talk of more tariffs.  Well, today 3UK have made the device available on 18 month contracts, with much lower upfront costs:

The previous options remain; PAYG with an upfront cost of £99.99 or a 1 month rolling contract (5GB of data usage) with an upfront cost of £69.99 and £15 per month, but two new options have been added:

You can either:

• Pay £39.99 upfront, and then pay £10 per month (1GB data, 18 month contract), or £15 per month (5GB data, 18 month contract)
• Pay nothing upfront, and then pay £12 per month (1GB data, 18 month contract), or £17 per month (5GB data, 18 month contract)

So, you either pay £40 upfront, or pay an additional £36 over the 18 month contract (of course, if you leave the contract running after that, you will continue to pay the extra £2 per month, making it more expensive as time progresses).

3UK have confirmed that the £39.99 upfront tariffs will only be available in 3 Stores, whereas the other 18 month contract tariffs will be available in stores and from the online 3Store.
