Firstly, as we predicted and already revealed, Nokia have launched the Nokia E75, and it’s available for pre-order now for delivery next month. This beats the Nokia N97 by a couple of months (it seems the E-Series division are getting better at announcing and making immediately available, whereas the N-Series division are still announcing phones months in advance).
More details, and the other devices in the rest of the article…
The Nokia E75 features a full side-slide QWERTY keyboard, and may well become more popular than the Nokia E71 currently is. The main feature Nokia are promoting is that this is the first device with Nokia Messaging built in. It measures 111.8 x 50/80 x 14.4 mm and weighs 139g, and has a 2.4″ 320 x 240 display, with 50MB of internal memory and microSD card support (4GB card included in box). It runs S60 3rd Edition FP2. The camera is 3.2 megapixel, with an LED flash.
Even more interesting, it looks like the E75 will feature N-Gage support too. This will cost €375. As well as the Black featured at the top of the article, it will also be available in Copper and Red…

The Nokia E55 is a half-QWERTY keyoard, which we hinted at last week. This may replace the Nokia E71 (if people are willing to get used to the keyboard), and it’s got good credentials, including Nokia’s thinnest smartphone, and will only cost €265 when it’s available in the Summer (pictures below in the White and Black colour options).
Some main points about this device include 116.5mm x 48mm x 9.9mm, 95g, ships with a 1500mAh battery (compared to 1000mAh for the Nokia E75), a similar 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, a similar 2.4″ 240 x 320 display, 100MB internal memory (and support for microSD, but only a 2GB card included in the box), and a 3.5mm audio port.

Both E-Series device come with Nokia Maps and a 3 month navigation license, and feature builtin direct access to MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, and many online webmail sites.
Nokia have also launched the 6710 Navigator (picture below), which updates the previous Navigator range to include integration with the Desktop based Maps on Ovi solution, builtin licenses (to allow navigation straight after purchase) and even a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics. Also included in the box is a car holder, again helping the user out. It will be out in Q3 2009 around €300 (before tax).

Finally, Nokia have also launched their App Store, called Ovi Store. Although the Nokia N97 will be the first device to feature Ovi Store access built in, other S40 and S60 devices will be able to download the access support via the Download! facility around May time, when the store opens. It will feature a similar 70%/30% revenue model as used by Apple, and Nokia have claimed that over time, the system will learn your preferences, and anticipate which applications you will be interested in. Interestingly, Facebook are listed as a partner for Ovi Store, which may well imply a native S60 client is in the works.
Neither of these new phones are touch devices, and, for many business people, that will probably be fine; as always the Nokia E-Series division concentrates on stable, well supported Symbian OS versions, leaving the cutting edge stuff (and need for regular firmwares) to the N-Series division.
The only question we have; given the scarcity of the Nokia E71 on most of the UK networks for consumers (as opposed to business contracts), we wonder if they have learnt their lesson (and lost revenue as a result) and will now be looking to offer both these devices to everyone; we’ve seen a rise in BlackBerry devices on consumer contracts, which shows there is a market for internet-connected smartphones with email support built-in…
