Vodafone improve SIM only tariffs

If you already have a mobile phone, and want to change contract, but are happy to keep your existing mobile (you can port your existing number across to Vodafone too), then the Vodafone SIM Only contracts may be useful for you.  As they only have a rolling 30 day notice period, you aren’t even tied in for 12, 18 or 24 months.

The new deals are as such:

  • £10 per month; 100 minutes (increased from 75) and 500 texts
  • £15 per month; 200 minutes (increased from 150) and “unlimited” 3000 texts (increased from 1000)
  • £20 per month; no change at 600 minutes and “unlimited” 3000 texts

Compared to the other networks who offer similar SIM only deals, these seem rather competitive, with these tariffs offering more minutes or more texts.

The only downside we can see is that these tariffs ultimately appear to based on PAYG deals, and hence Internet Access is offered with a £1 per day cap, but there do not appear to be any options for set amount per month (eg £10 for 1GB).

Update: You may be able to take out the PAYG Internet Access, which is £7.50 per month for 500MB, although you would need to check this with Vodafone.

Will 2009 be the death of the term unlimited, when it really isn’t….
