Cintiq 20″

Wacom have introduced a new widescreen 20″ pen display.

This supplements the current range of a 21″ and a 12″ pen display, although the new 20″ display is widescreen. All the screens support ExpressKeys and Touch Strips, which allow you to reduce keyboard usage and allow you to concentrate on using the Cintiq as the main method of input. The ExpressKeys allow you access menus commands (with presets, although the keys are also programmable), whereas the Touch Strip allows you to scroll and zoom your document. These displays use the same pens as the Intuos3 pen tablets, and there is a level of compatibility between the two types of devices.

I’ve always found pen tablets difficult to work with, and I’ve always felt that combining them with a display would make them much more usable.

If you can’t stretch to the 20″ or 21″ displays (which both retail at over £2000), how about the 12″, which is only £830…
